Who can apply for the Freitisch?
Students at the University of Bonn or the University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) can apply for the Freitisch. Students who do not fulfil the personal requirements for receiving benefits according to the Federal Training Assistance Act (Section II BAföG) are eligible to claim this help.
Any eligible applicant is entitled to receive the benefit if, after deducting rent and health/long-term care insurance, they are left with less than 40 per cent of the maximum BAföG rate and do not receive BAföG.
Eligibility to apply must be proven by presenting the currently valid student ID and a valid identity card or passport. In order to prove eligibility for the free table, the student's own bank statements from the current month and the previous month must be submitted.
What does the Freitisch include?
Recipients are entitled to the following meals per day/per person from Monday to Friday (except public holidays) in the open catering facilities of the Studierendenwerk Bonn:
1) A lunch consisting of one main course from the menu, up to three side dishes from the menu, or alternatively a meal from the food truck,
2) two items from the cafeteria menu.
Drinks and self-service items (chocolate bars, ice cream) are excluded from the buffet.
