The Mensa am Hofgarten replaces the Mensa Nassestraße, while the building of the Studierendenwerk is newly built.
Due to space constraints on site, the new temporary canteen on the grounds of the Collegium Albertinum on Adenauerallee is significantly smaller than the original temporary facility in front of the University Castle. It has seating for just 170 people. When the weather is fine, the outdoor seating can be used.

There is a vegetarian/vegan option as well as a stew. A permanently stationed food truck near the University and State Library (ULB) complements the offering.

Why was it necessary to move the temporary canteen from the Hofgarten to Adenauerallee?
The completion of the new building, originally planned for early 2026 to coincide with the start of construction work, has been delayed by at least 18 months. In summer 2025, the University of Bonn and the Bau- und Liegenschaftsbetrieb NRW (BLB) gave notice to the Studierendenwerk to vacate the Hofgarten site by 31 March 2026 in order to press ahead with the upcoming renovation of the University's main building.
In its search for an alternative location for a new temporary canteen, the Studierendenwerk, supported by the University, approached the Archdiocese of Cologne. As a result, the temporary canteen was relocated to the new site.
